Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed. Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student course activity daily. Attendance is 10% of your overall grade, and will be monitored daily. (Online & Face to Face) Face to Face/Lab Times: 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Lunch Schedule: 11:00 – 11:30 or 11:30 – 12:00. Afternoon Break: 1:30 – 1:45 Cosmetology Students may clock in as soon as the clock is turned on until 9:a.m. At 9:05 a.m. students will be marked absent. A.M. absences will not be allowed to clock in until AFTER LUNCH. Full time students will be attending Face to Face Lab 2 days a week. Every other week, students will attend class on Fridays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Your instructor will provide you with additional information. Dual Enrolled students will attend class their normal schedule. Phase II: 8 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Phase I: 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Please Note: ANY COSMETOLOGY LAB DAYS MISSED MUST BE MADE UP. The time clock is used for TDLR attendance verification. Each student is assigned a code to clock in; it is your responsibility to clock in and out each day. No student may clock in or out for another. Students must clock out for their 30 minute lunch break. Failure to clock out and in after break or lunch may result in an absence. Students not clocking out for lunch will be in violation and disciplinary action will be taken. Make-up exams will NOT be given. Any missed exam due to an Excused Absence Only, will be replaced with your lowest unit exam grade. This replacement is only allowed once per class. Final exams are exempt, students must be present for all final exams. Consult with your instructor in advance if you know you will be absent, any days missed must be made up online through Blackboard, Microsoft Teams Video Discussions, Quizlet/Quizlet Live etc. Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations (TDLR) mandates documentation is available for the State Inspector showing attendance, theory and practical skills for online and face to face.
